Choi Seung-Hyun was given the stage name TOP by a fellow YG entertainer when he debuted with Big Bang. He was born November 4th 1987 and is childhood friends with Yi-Jong (GD). Seung use to go by the name Tempo, while in his early days of rapper in a underground club. Yi-Jong, after joining YG started recruiting members for Big Bang and contacted SeungHyun.
It was said that the owners of YG rejected him on the first audition because he was to heavy and that he didn’t fit with the “idol” image that they wanted to keep. He then lost 20kg in 40 days, re auditioned, and got the job.
After his debut he began to work on his solo career,but he didn’t choose singing. TOP is the first member to look into acting. He starred in a Korean Drama titled I Am Sam. In 2008 he enrolled in Dankook University in the Theater Department. In June 2012, TOP was announced to have been given the part in a upcoming action film called Alumni.
